Walter P. Starmer

Walter P. Starmer, c.1919

Walter Percival Starmer (1877-1961) was an English artist, cartoonist, muralist, and stained glass designer. He is best known for his murals at the church of St Jude-on-the-Hill at Hampstead Garden Suburb in north London.

Early life and family

Walter Starmer was born in 1877. He studied art at the Norwich and Birmingham schools of art.[1]

Career

Starmer practiced as an artist, cartoonist, muralist, and stained glass designer.[1]

During the First World War he recorded the work of the YMCA on the Western Front.[1]

He is best known for his murals at the church of St Jude-on-the-Hill at Hampstead Garden Suburb in north London.[1]

Death

Starmer died in 1961.[1]
