Walter Martin is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the indie rock band The Walkmen, with whom he has recorded seven studio albums. Prior to joining the Walkmen, Martin was the keyboardist and organ-player for Jonathan Fire*Eater.[1]
Following The Walkmen's decision to enter a hiatus, Martin has released four solo studio albums.
Background
Walter Martin grew up in the Washington, DC, area and attended school at St. Albans. His cousin and future bandmate with the Walkmen, Hamilton Leithauser, lived across the street.[2] In college, Martin majored in art history but dropped out before graduating.[3]
