Wakil Ahmed is a Bangladeshi academic. He was the vice-chancellor of Bangladesh National University from July 2005 until December 2007. He is the former president of the Bangla Academy and the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.[1][2] He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2004 by the Government of Bangladesh for his research contribution.[3]

Career

As of 2010, Ahmed served as a Supernumerary Professor of the Department of Bangla at the University of Dhaka.[4]

Ahmed served as the vice-chancellor of Bangladesh National University from July 2005 until December 2007. In December 2007 Professor Ahmed was removed from the office of vice-chancellor of Bangladesh National University by the government of Bangladesh. He was kicked out from the vice-chancellor's office by the government almost one and a half year before his tenure ended.[5][6]
