Waine Pryce (born 3 October 1981 in Bradford) is an English born former Jamaican international rugby league player[1] who has now retired from the sport and is working as a mechanical engineer.[2] His primary position was Wing but also plays Centre.
Waine Pryce comes from a family of rugby league players with his father and uncles having played professionally. His cousins are Great Britain International Leon Pryce, and Karl Pryce.[3]
Castleford
Waine Pryce came through the Castleford Academy system as a youngster. He made his début for the senior team in 2000. He has scored 49 tries for Castleford in 110 starting appearances. During July of the 2006 Super League season, Pryce broke the tibia, and fibula in his left leg away at Harlequins. The extent of his injury forced him to have a metal rod and screws inserted into his injured leg.[4]
Because of the injury, Pryce missed the last two months of the 2006 Super League season, which saw his side relegated. For the 2007 Super League season, Pryce moved from Castleford to Wakefield Trinity. Then in 2008 Pryce joined former teammate Tom Saxton, and joined Featherstone Rovers.
Wakefield Trinity
Although relegated with Castleford from the Super League competition, Wakefield Trinity signed Waine Pryce. Although Pryce missed the first few games of the season as he was still recovering from his injury.
Waine has released by Wakefield Trinity as he never got into the first team as a regular player.
England
He has won international honours for the England 'A' side, making appearances against New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji. He has also represented England 'A' in the 2003 European Nations Cup competition.[5]
