History of the WRKT callsign

WRKT was at one time assigned to an AM station in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Call sign stood for "ROCKET 1300." The station served the Kennedy Space Center area (Titusville) to Melbourne. The station also simulcasted WRKT-FM at 104.1, which has since moved to Orlando. At the time of the simulcast in the mid-1970s the station was a Top 40/AOR a.k.a CHR station that dominated the market.
