WHNR (1360 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a "Heinz 57 Music" format. Licensed to Cypress Gardens, Florida, United States, the station serves the Lakeland/Winter Haven Arbitron market. The station is currently owned by Thomas and Carol Saunders, through licensee Catco Communications, LLC.[1] WKFL 1170 AM in Bushnell is now simulcasting on WHNR 1360 AM, Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven.[2] In July 2018 the station was purchased by Ferris Waller, through licensee Walco Enterprise, LLC

History

The station went on the air in 1958 as WINT playing a top 40 format. In 1972 the station changed its call-sign to WZNG playing an Oldies format. On 1983-11-02, the station changed call-sign to WYXY playing an Adult Contemporary format. On 1990-03-16, the station changed its call sign to the current WHNR playing a mix of Standards/Big Band-era and light adult contemporary music. The station was silent for a time in 1995 before moving to an Urban contemporary format under the branding "Power 1360, the Soul of Central Florida". In 1996, the station moved to the current Regional Mexican format under the "La Poderosa" branding.[3]

In 2010, the station began to air classic country from 7PM to 6AM.[4] Ferris Waller's Walco Enterprises, LLC of Plant City (FL) made a deal to buy WHNR from Catco Communications in early December 2017. FCC approval was granted in July 2018. Waller doesn't own any other radio properties but does own several businesses in the Plant City area. The station is now being branded as "Boss Hogg Radio" and are playing a variety format that they call "Heinz 57 Music" with Kickin' Country in the AM. They have built a remote studio at the Plant City Farm & Flea Market.
