Vivekananda Balaka Sangha

Vivekananda Balaka Sangha was an institution for the study of the poor boys established by Swami Yatiswarananda in Bangalore Ashrama of Basavanagudi in Bull Temple Road. [1]

History

Swami Yatiswarananda, who was the president of Ramakarishna Math, Bangalore, was inspired by the Sunday schools for the moral and ethical development of children along with their regular education during his stay in United States. When he returned to India he planned to start a similar venture for the spiritual and moral growth of children in line with the vision of Swami Vivekananda. This was the genesis of the Vivekananda Balaka Sangha. The institution started with the local school going children from the localities in and around the Ramakrishna Math in Basavanagudi, Bangalore. It started in April, 1953.
