Viren Dangwal

Viren Dangwal (5th August 1947 - 28th September 2014) was a renowned Hindi poet and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award 2004 in Hindi language for his book 'Dushchakra Mein Srista' (दुष्चक्र में सृष्टा) (Poetry).[1] He was a journalist and an academician. He was associated with the editorial board of the Hindi newspaper Amar Ujala group and was a professor of Hindi at Bariely College from 1974-2010.[2]

Viren Danwal's famous write up was 'Kavi Ne kaha' besides his collection ‘ Dushchakra me Shrista’ that earned him the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2004 and the Shamsher Samman in 2002. In 1992 he received the Raghuveer Sahay Smriti Award for his poem 'Duniya'. In 1993 he received the Srikant Verma Smriti Award.

Dangwal was born in Kirti Nagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
