Vesna Zmijanac (Serbian Cyrillic: Весна Змијанац; Serbian pronunciation: [ʋêsna zmijǎːnats]; born 4 January 1957) is a Montenegrin folk singer.[1] By releasing 13 albums, multiple singles and several compilation albums she was arguably one of the most popular singers in the former Yugoslavia. Unlike most of her colleges, Vesna was creating a star-image, being sex-symbol, fashionista and gay icon as well. She also had a rivalry with Lepa Brena as the two most successful female singers at the time.

She was born in Nikšić, Montenegro.[2] She started as a kafana singer.[3] Her singing career started back in 1979 with the single "Hvala ti za sve" (English: Thank You For Everything), and after that came a few popular singles and her first studio album in 1981. During the 80's she was at the peak of her career, selling hundreds of thousands of records. In addition to her singing career, she appeared in several TV series and movies such as "Sok Od Šljiva", "Kamiondžije 2", and "Kamiondžije Ponovo Voze."[4]

Vesna Zmijanac is the mother of Nikolija Jovanović, also a popular singer.
