Veerasamar is an Indian art director and film actor who has appeared in Tamil language films. He made his breakthrough as an actor with a leading role in Veerasekaran (2010) and has often appeared in films with several lead actors.[1][2]
Career
Veerasamar began his career as an art director by apprenticing in S. Shankar's Boys (2003), before moving on to work in highly successful films including Kaadhal (2004), Veyil (2006) and Poo (2008).[3]
Veerasamar made his acting debut through Veerasekaran (2010), which had a low profile release. The film later garnered attention for being the first film of actress Amala Paul, who became popular after her performance in Prabhu Solomon's Mynaa (2010).[4] A reviewer from Behindwoods.com noted "Veerasamar has to go a long way before he can be called an actor" and that "of course, the lack of substance in the script does not give him many opportunities to shine, but his inexperience in front of the camera does show", but "to his credit, however, he has reminded us of his art directorial skills through a couple of songs".[5] Following Veerasekaran, he signed on to work on two further small-budget films titled Yamunavai Kadhalikiren and Karuvaachi as the lead actor, but neither film was completed. Likewise, two other films K. T. Kunjumon's Kadhalukku Maranamillai and Samy's Sarithiram were completed but failed to be released.[6] He later also worked on a film titled Mokkapadam alongside Amritha, but it did not have a theatrical release.[7] He later moved back to playing supporting roles and prioritising his career as an art director, notably working on Komban (2015) and Marudhu (2016).
