Vasile 'Simi' Simionaș (born 16 November 1950) is a Romanian former professional footballer and manager. Simionaș played as a midfielder and is considered to be the most important player in the history of Politehnica Iași with over 370 matches played. Simionaș was part of the golden team of Politehnica and together with Mihai Romilă and Gabriel Simionov has made one of the memorable midfield lines of the Romanian football. In Divizia A "Simi" made his debut in April 1968 for Dinamo Bacău in a match against Progresul București[1][2][3] After retirement Simionaș started his football manager career and made history at Oțelul Galați in the 90's, where is considered one of the most important managers in the club's history.[4] After 2005 Simionaș works as a football observer for Romanian Football Federation and also managed CSM Pașcani for a short period.[5]
