Vaid
Vaid is a surname that belongs to the Mohyal Brahmin community. Mohyal Brahmins are Punjabi Brahmins who originally belonged to the Ghandhara region which is now known as Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mohyal Brahmins are the distinct Brahmins as they kept themselves away from priestly activities, evil practices like untouchability and didn't believe in other similar taboos. The Mohyal clan includes other castes like Bali, Chibber, Lau, Dutt, Mohan and Bhimwal. The gotra of Vaids is Bhardwaj. Mohyal Brahmins are also called Hussaini Brahmins. Vaids also use Bakshi or Raizada as courtesy title.
