Bakshi Tirath Ram Vaid

Sardar Bahadur Risaldar Major and honorary Captain Bakshi Tirath Ram Vaid (1857 - 1924), O.B.I, I.O.M., was a decorated soldier of the British Indian Army. He was also known as Tirath Ram.

He enlisted in the ranks of the Queen's Own Corps of Guides 1 May 1876.[1]

As a Ressaidar with the Queen's Own Corps of Guides cavalry was awarded the Indian Order of Merit 3rd Class for gallantry displayed at the Siege of Malakand in 1897,[2] where he fought against a much larger force of Afghan tribesmen.[3]

He was also rewarded with large tracts of agricultural land in District Lyallpur for his contributions.

He was decorated with the Order of British India 2nd class, with the title of Bahadur 24 September 1904.[4]

He retired from the Indian Army and was appointed honorary Captain on 1 February 1909.[5]

He was elected president of All India Mohyal Conference of 1919, held in Rawalpindi.[6]
