Urtext Film Productions is a film company located in Brooklyn, New York. It was originally based in Adelaide, South Australia.[1] The company was founded by Matthew Salleh, with Rose Tucker as head of production. The duo produced the short documentaries Pablo's Villa (2013), Please Don't Rush (2013) and Central Texas Barbecue (2014), which have played at over a dozen international film festivals.

'Barbecue'

Barbecue (2017) is Matthew Salleh's feature directorial debut. The film explores how humankind cooks meat over fire as a way to bring communities together. The film was shot in 12 countries and is 12 languages.[2] Barbecue had its world premiere at SXSW 2017.[3] The film was the recipient of the 2018 James Beard Award for Best Documentary[4]

Short Films

Pablo's Villa

Pablo's Villa, a short documentary about the flooded town of Villa Epecuén and its sole resident Pablo Novak, had its world premiere at Sydney Film Festival and played at over a dozen international film festivals. The film was directed by Matthew Salleh and produced by Rose Tucker.[5][6][7][8][9]

Please Don't Rush

Please Don't Rush is a short documentary filmed in Laos, about a school for the blind. The film was directed by Matthew Salleh and produced by Rose Tucker. It had its world premiere at Byron Bay Film Festival.[10][11][12]

Central Texas Barbecue

Central Texas Barbecue, about the lives of various barbecue pitmasters, had its world premiere at the 2014 Sydney Film Festival.[13]
