Umar ibn Sa'ad

‘Umar ibn Sa‘ad (Arabic: عمر بن سعد) (fl. 620–686) was one of the sons of the Sahabi Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas, who was among the ten companions to whom paradise was promised. He derives from Madinah and later moved to Kufa which was built by his father and stayed there until his death.[1]

He was a clergyman, and took orders from Ibn Ziyad. He was one of the leaders of the troops that killed [2]Husayn ibn Ali in the Battle of Karbala.

He also had a son Hafs Bin Amar ibn Saad bin Abi Waqqas who was according to history killed by his own mother in the government of Al-Mukhtar. His wife was a sister of Al-Mukhtar. Umar ibn Saad was killed by troops of Al-Mukhtar.
