Ultima Evolution

The Ultima Evolution is a range of sports cars manufactured by Ultima Sports Ltd of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England. It is sold both as a kit, which the buyers build themselves, or as a complete vehicle, built at the factory. The car is rear mid engined, rear wheel drive, and is available as a coupé or a convertible. The chassis is a tubular steel space frame, and the bodywork is Glass-reinforced plastic.

The factory-assembled car is shipped with a Chevrolet LS small block V8 engine and a Porsche transaxle. While this is the recommended powertrain, kit builders are free to install their own combinations.

The Evolution is available in 15 different engine configurations, the top of the range being a supercharged 415 cu in (6.8 L) with bore x stroke of 4.065 in × 4 in (103.3 mm × 101.6 mm) unit producing a stated 1,020 bhp (1,034 PS; 761 kW) and 920 lb⋅ft (1,247 N⋅m) at 4,500 rpm of torque.[1] This model is reported to cost around £95,000 GBP.[2]

The manufacturers claim that the performance of the Evolution will be greater than that of the GTR which it replaces, suggesting a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of around 2.3 seconds and 0-100-0 time of around 8.8 seconds, though the top speed is likely to be around 240 mph (386 km/h) due to gearing limitations.[3]
