Ulamambri, New South Wales

Ulamambri is a village in north-western New South Wales, Australia.

Geography

Uliamabri is on the junction of the Castlereagh River and Ulimambra Creek, just south of the town of Coonaburrabran, New South Wales. Ulamambri is in Toorawandi parish of Napier County, New South Wales.[1] The parish is on the traditional lands of the Weilwan Aborginal people.

Railway

A railway station on the now closed Gwabegar railway line was located there between 1917 and 1976.[2] The suburb of Ulamambri, adjoins Coonabarabran to the north west.

Prominent community members

Ol' Meat Cleaver Keith
Ol' Meat Cleaver was a well known member of the local community and prominent local grey hound racer and breeder. His favourite steed, Thor's Seed famously won the local darby, and was much loved and celebrated by the local community. At the time of Thor's Seed's passing the proud flag at the Ulamambri community hall was flown at half mast.
