Ashraf Uddin Ahmed (known by the stage name Ujjal; 28 April 1946)[1] is a retired Bangladeshi film actor and director.[2] He acted in over 100 films and also in about 100 television plays.[2]

Early life

Ujjal was born in Jantihar village, Shahzadpur, Pabna District in the then British India.[1] He was a student of the University of Dhaka.[3]

Career

In 1970, Ujjal debuted his acting career in Subhash Dutta's film Binimoy.[4] Over the years he acted with actresses like Kabori, Rozina, Bobita, Shabana, Shabnam, Sucharita and Dolly Anwar.[2] He got a leg injury during the shooting of the film Oporadh.[3] He acted in the roles of films like Janata Express, Kudraat and Phooler Shori after the accident.[3]

Ujjal also directed the films Shakti Porikkha, Tibro Protibad, and Paaper Shasti.[2]

Ujjal is involved in the Film Producers and Distributors Association and a member of the Film Censor Board.[5]
