Uday (Ukrainian: Удай) is a river in Ukraine, 327 km in length, a right tributary of the Sula River, the basin of Dnieper. The Uday river finds its source near the village of Rozhnivka in Ichnia Raion, Chernihiv Oblast.

General information

The length of the river is 327 km, the area of the pool is 7030 km². The trapezoidal valley is terraced, 2.5-3 km wide (up to 4-6 km), the flood plain is double-sided, waterlogged, on some areas drained; overwhelming width 0,4-0,5 km; there are elders Generous winding, 15-20 m wide (in the upper reaches), up to 20-40 m (at the bottom), depth of 0.3-1.5 m (sometimes up to 4.5 m). The slope of the river is 0.2 m / km. Power mixed, with predominance of snow. Freezes in the end of November - in early December, it crashes in the second half of March. The average long-term water consumption of Udayu (Pryluky municipality) is 4.3 m³ / s. The mineralization of water varies during the year: spring flood - 729 mg / dm³; summer-autumn measurements - 807 mg / dm³; Winter Meadow - 853 mg / dm³. Water is used for technical and household needs, for water supply, for irrigation. In Uday, there are species of fish such as crucian carp, pike, bream, roach, horseback riding, perch, knot, lynx, billiards, bittern, vinegar, etc. Crayfishes occur in places. The number of fish in recent years has been decreasing due to water pollution and mass poaching. The beauty of the surrounding slopes of the river and the strong current is attracting fans of kayaking.

Location

Get rid of the marshes that are east of the village of Rogozhnivka. In the upper reaches to the west, then turns coolly south and south-east. In the middle and lower reaches the river makes several large turns. Falls Sula on the south-east of the village of Luka in the village of Berezotoc, north-east of Luben.
