The US-Asia Institute is a private United Nations-associated non-governmental organization. The institute was founded in 1979[1] by Esther G. Kee and the late Joji Konoshima. USAI strives to improve and strengthen the relations between the people and governments of the United States and Asia.

President Jimmy Carter was the keynote speaker at the first US-Asia Institute Gala, held in May 1980.[2]
