UK Register of Learning Providers

The UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP) is a 'one-stop' portal to be used by government departments, agencies, learners, and employers to share key information about learning providers. The register allows providers to update their information in one place and share this across public agencies. The register's website [1] identifies the Skills Funding Agency, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and UCAS as examples of agencies who make use of the register.

The register was established on 1 August 2005, and as at December 2016 records over 30,000 learning providers. Registration is free of charge.[2] The register operator (the Skills Funding Agency) verifies the existence of each learning provider against a recognised external source but does not undertake any quality assurance function. Each register provider is allocated a UK Provider Reference Number (UKPRN). Registration is not obligatory but no access to UK skills funding finance is available either directly or indirectly [3] without registration.

Apprenticeship training providers who wish to appear on the UK's Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers in order to access funding from the Apprenticeship Levy from May 2017 and deliver apprenticeship training must be registered with the UKRLP.[4]
