Since 1965 the UCLA Campus Events Commission (CEC) has been one of the largest purveyors of campus entertainment, programming films, music and speakers for the UCLA student body community. CEC hosts weekly free movies and often showcases early screenings of films before they premier in theaters. Some film pre-screenings have included Big Hero 6, Game of Thrones, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Get Out. CEC provides concerts in various venues throughout the UCLA campus free of charge, and past performances have included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Best Coast, Young the Giant, Kendrick Lamar, Snakehips, and YG. CEC also coordinates speaking events from an eclectic variety of dignitaries. Past speakers have ranged from Martin Luther King Jr. to Morgan Freeman and Michael Moore. Be it media seen or heard, Campus Events Commission is constantly in search of that which is as evocative and diverse as its audience.

UCLA Campus Events Commission's major annual event is Bruin Bash, a large scale concert (serving over 10,000 students) held in Pauley Pavilion. CEC produces this event in association with the UCLA Cultural Affairs Commission. Other long-standing traditions hosted by UCLA include the Jack Benny Award and Spencer Tracy Award, as well as the Shorttakes Film Festival.[1]

Bruin Bash

Bruin Bash is an annual tradition at UCLA since 2003. It is a concert put on by the Campus Events Commission in conjunction with Cultural Affairs Commission to welcome new and returning students to the new school year. It began as an alternative to "Black Sunday", the Sunday before fall quarter began in which large and often uncontrollable parties would take place in Westwood and around campus.

Over the years, some large scale artists have headlined Bruin Bash, including the following:
