TwistPHP is an open-source web framework distributed under the GNU General Public License and hosted by GitHub. TwistPHP consists of a bespoke code base written from the ground up and has been optimised to ensure quick load times and low memory usage. [2]

The first version of TwistPHP (TwistPHP 1.0) was developed as a private project, on the 18th of July 2014 the source became public and was moved onto the GitHub repository named TwistPHP. In November 2014 the first official open-source release (TwistPHP 2.3.4) was made. [3]

In January 2016 a new re-written version of the framework was released (TwistPHP 3.0.0) which took a Full MVC architecture approach which included new features such as object orientated database interaction and better expandability. [4]
