Turquzabad (Persian: تورقوزآباد, also Romanized as Ţūrqūzābād)[1] is a village in Kahrizak Rural District, Kahrizak District, Rey County, Tehran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 2,803, in 669 families.[2] On September 27, 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu show[3]ed the UN General Assembly a photo of an alleged nuclear storage facility in Turquzabad. This allegation is claimed to be one of the most catastrophic mistakes ever happened in a speech given by a delegation at UN, since "Turquzabad" is a slang in Farsi language referring to “a place in the middle of nowhere” or a "place far far away"[4]. Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in relation to this mistake stated: “Someone must be playing a prank on Netanyahu”[5].
