Tun Tun Min (Burmese: ထွန်းထွန်းမင်း), also known as Mu Don Tharr (မုဒုံသား), is a Burmese Lethwei fighter and former openweight Lethwei World Champion.[1] Tun Tun Min is the youngest fighter to ever win the Lethwei Golden Belt, obtaining the title at 23.[2] Tun Tun Min is also notable for fighting with foreign fighters from outside Myanmar.[3] He took part in Muay Thai competitions at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games and 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games winning Gold and Bronze respectively.
Lethwei career
Becoming champion
In 2014, at the age of 23, Tun Tun Min became the youngest fighter to win the Lethwei open weight World Title by defeating Saw Nga Man.[3] Lethwei is also known as Burmese bareknuckle boxing and is considered to be one of the most aggressive sports in the world.[2]
Despite being both among the top ranked lethwei fighters in Myanmar, Tun Tun Min and Too Too have refused to fight each other due to their long-lasting friendship.[4]
Losing the title
After a dominant performance over Too Too, Tun Tun Min challenged Lethwei newcomer, Quebec born fighter, Dave Leduc. Their first bout was an explosive draw.
On 11 December 2016, the very anticipated rematch of Tun Tun Min and Dave Leduc took place at the Air KBZ Aung Lan Golden Belt Championship in Yangon, Myanmar.[5] The two previously fought in October to a draw, but the rematch was sweetened by an added bonus: ownership of the Lethwei Golden Belt. Tun Tun Min lost for only the second time in his career, as he lost to Dave Leduc due to an injury to his leg. [6][7][8]
WLC
In 2017, Tun Tun Min signed an exclusive contract with World Lethwei Championship. In his first fight with the promotion, he defeated British kickboxer Nicholas Carter in a first-round knockout.
