Tsutsujigasaki Castle
Tsutsujigasaki Yakata (躑躅ヶ崎館) is classified as a flatland castle (renkakushiki), also classified as a palace, and sometimes referred to as a shrine. It is now mostly ruins, in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.[1][2]
History
Alternatively known as both the Tsutsujigasaki Yakata or the Takedashi Yakata, it was an extremely well fortified complex.[3] However, it was not classified as a castle. It was home to one of the most famous samurai clans of the Sengoku period, the Takeda clan. It was in use between 1519 and 1594.[4]
Current
The only remains are a water-filled moats and some minor stonework. The Takeda clan shrine is in the centre of the site. To the right of the shrine is the Takeda clan museum, guarded by a stone Hello Kitty.[5] [6]
