Troy Roberts (journalist)

Troy Roberts (born September 9, 1962) is an American television news reporter and correspondent for 48 Hours Mystery.

Biography

Roberts was born on September 9, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1984. Roberts currently lives in New York City.^[1]

Career

From 1985 to 1987, Roberts worked as a host and producer of a weekly newsmagazine show at KPIX-TV, a San Francisco-based, CBS-owned television company. From 1987 to 1990, he was a reporter for Portland-based KATU-TV. In 1990, he moved to New York to work at another CBS-owned station WCBS-TV, reporting for Channel 2's This Morning and anchoring local news segments for CBS Morning News. In 1993, he joined CBS News to co-anchor the overnight broadcast of Up to the Minute, interviewing various newsmakers and personalities. From 1995 through 1996, Roberts co-anchored CBS Morning News.^[1]

In 1994, Roberts anchored CBS News reports from the Winter Olympics held in Lillehammer, Norway, and covered many significant international events, such as the signing of the Middle East peace accords and the inauguration of Nelson Mandela. In the summer of 1996, Roberts reported from the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and covered the Centennial Olympic Park bombing, for which he received an Emmy Award. In 1996, he covered news on the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton and Bob Dole. As correspondent of the CBS Evening News, he also reported on investigative stories for Eye on America. Roberts also reported for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, CBS This Morning and CBS News Sunday Morning.^[1]

In December 1998, Roberts was assigned as a correspondent for 48 Hours Mystery.^[1][2]
