Trip.com is an online travel agency, first launched in late 2017. The Trip.com brand is owned by Ctrip, the world's second largest online travel agency,[2] which is also the parent company of Skyscanner. The Trip.com brand was acquired by Ctrip in 2017[3] and became the basis for their website aimed at international audiences.[4] The brand also has a popular mobile app available on Android and iOS.

The site provides booking services for flights, hotels and trains. According to their site, more than 1,200,000 hotels and accommodations are bookable through the website, while it features flights to over 5,000 cities across the globe.[5] Train tickets can be purchased for the UK, Germany, South Korea and Mainland China.

Trip.com is available in 13 different languages including English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Malaysian and Thai, with the mobile app also featuring Vietnamese and Filipino. It also has localized English versions available for Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

September 2017 - Ctrip acquires Trip.com

November 2017 – The new Trip.com website soft launched

January 2018 – Trip.com officially launched

February 2018 – South Korean rail ticket purchasing launched. In doing so, Trip.com becomes the first third-party to sell Korail tickets online.[6]

March 2018 – Trip.com launched a new rental car service on its English website, servicing over 6,000 cities across the world.[7]

June 2018 – Airport transfer launched on Trip.com's Hong Kong and English sites, initially covering more than 200 cities in 55 countries.[8]

Domain history

The original Trip.com (formerly Gogobot), founded by entrepreneurs Travis Katz and Ori Zaltzman, was acquired by Ctrip in 2017.[9] The core product acquired by Ctrip, now renamed as Trip by Skyscanner, has become the content platform powering user-generated content and personalization across the Skyscanner and Trip.com products.
