Development

  • Caterpillar ran a company-wide vote to give a name to the "Excavator Autobot" from The Last Knight, with "Trench" winding up being the winner.[1]
  • Trench shares the same body-type as Scrapper and, by extension, Scrapmetal. Also "Trench" was also an unused alternate name for the Beast Machines character Dillo.[2]

Films

Trench appears in Transformers: The Last Knight was an Autobot refugee on Earth who had apparently been taken in by Cade Yeager and the other Autobots. He seemed content to do little save sit around in alt mode around the Junkyard, taking little notice as Grimlock stomped by. When the Decepticons and TRF discovered their refuge, he transformed and prepared to join Hound in holding off their enemies while the humans and Autobots escaped. He was not seen again and it is unclear if he was slain by the Decepticons as he was not seen joining the Autobots in going to England.
