Education and early career

Traver Kennedy graduated from Bowdoin College in 1975[1] with a degree in Music, majoring in Classical Voice. After graduating, Kennedy opened an audio and video store, which eventually began selling computers. Following this, he started a career as a computer consultant.[2] In this role he worked in policy development for the International Telecommunications Union, the Federal Communications Commission, and the United States Senate. He also worked with private companies including Lucent Technologies, Sun Microsystems, Nortel, and Xerox.[3] During the 1990s Kennedy also worked on electoral balloting architecture for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.[2]

ASP

Kennedy eventually came to work for Citrix Systems, as the director of advanced business,[4][5] then as vice president for strategy and Chief Strategist, and later as the company’s Chief Evangelist.[6] In 2001 NetworkWorld magazine named Kennedy on its list of the twenty-five most powerful people in networking. While at Citrix, Kennedy worked on developing and distributing early versions of application service providers,[2] in addition to early cloud technology[7] and other forms of moving computing from the user device into the Internet.[8] This led those in his industry to refer to him as the “father of the ASP industry”.[9][10] Kennedy was also the founder[11] and Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium,[4] founder of the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center at the World Intellectual Property Organization,[12] and was a founder and Chairman of the Mobile Enterprise Alliance.[6] He also served as a public speaker for ASP and related industry issues and industry conferences and meetings.[13]

Other industries

In 2006 Kennedy became the vice-president of community and governmental affairs for DayJet.[1] During this time he also served as Chairman of the National Air Transportation Association’s Environmental Committee.[14] Kennedy then co-founded Joi Scientific, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO.[7] The company develops technology for the development of hydrogen fuel. [15] He is also the founder of Molecular Power Systems.[16]

Kennedy is on the board of directors for AI firm HiConversion,[17] and has served as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Early Learning Coalition.[18]
