Transit Australia

Transit Australia styles itself Australia's Urban Passenger Transport Journal. Originally called Electric Traction, it was founded by the Australia Electric Traction Association. The magazine was established in 1977 and is published monthly.[1] The headquarters is in Sydney.[1]

Point of view

The original point of view of this publication and the society it represents was as an advocate of railway electric traction, that is to say, trams. However, in more recent decades it has expanded its coverage to public transport in general, with a more neutral approach. As a result, it has attracted serious corporate advertising, and has become a fairly respected journal of record.

The scope of the coverage has also expanded to include New Zealand and south east Asia.

The number of pages in each issue has gradually grown over the years, and it is now printed entirely in colour. From January 2008 the size increased to A4.
