Tracie Spencer is the debut album of American singer, songwriter Tracie Spencer released in 1988 upon Capitol Records. The album rose to no. 57 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.[1][2]

Overview

At the time of this release, Spencer was 11 years old and noted as the youngest female artist to sign a record deal with a major label. The album cut Symptoms of True Love rose to nos. 11 & 37 upon the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B Songs chart. As well the singles Hide and Seek & Imagine got to nos. 31 and 32 upon the Hot R&B Songs chart.[3][4][5][6][7]

Cover Versions

Spencer also covered John Lennon's Imagine upon the album. Eighth Wonder and Martika went on to cover her track Cross My Heart during the same year. As well the album cut "My First Broken Heart" was covered by Filipina singer Iya Villania upon her 2008 album Finally!.[8][9][10]
