Tom Connell is an Australian journalist currently serving as a political reporter for Sky News Australia.[1] He began hosting The Morning Shift on 30 January 2017.[2]
Career
Connell obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Melbourne University[1] and earned a postgraduate degree in journalism from RMIT University in 2009.[3]
Connell joined Sky News in 2009, serving as a liaison producer and business reporter.[1] In 2011, Connell served as a reporter based in Brisbane, which included covering the 2012 Queensland state election.[4][5] The following year he relocated to Canberra as a Federal political reporter and member of the Canberra Press Gallery.[6]
Connell is also a substitute anchor for numerous Sky News programs presented from Canberra, including the now defunct Saturday Agenda,[7] The Latest with Laura Jayes[8] and First Edition.[9] He has also presented highlights packages of Australian question time which air on international news channels including C-SPAN in America.[10]
