Tom Broadbent (born 15 February 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays for Bristol Rovers, as a central defender.[3]

Career

Broadbent spent time with the youth academies of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth.[4] He then began playing first-team football for Bognor Regis Town at the age of 16, before moving to Chichester City.[4] He also spent time with Pagham and Selsey.[5]

After working in a supermarket and as a carpenter and labourer, Broadbent joined the Army at the age of 19.[2] Broadbent spent 6 years in the Army, serving as a Lance Bombadier with the Royal Artillery in Afghanistan.[2][6] He represented the Army at football, and in 2015 he began playing semi-professional non-league football,[2] appearing for Farnborough, Petersfield Town and Hayes & Yeading United.[1] He captained Hayes & Yeading for the 2016–17 season.[2] After leaving the Army to start a career in professional football,[6] Broadbent signed for Bristol Rovers in July 2017.[7]
