Tmetolophota propria is a moth of the family Noctuidae.[1] It was described by Francis Walker in 1856.[2] It is endemic to New Zealand,[1] where it is very common and widespread in montane to alpine grassland areas.[3]

The larvae feed on endemic and adventive grasses.[4]
