Produced by C. V. Kumar and directed by debutant Janakiraman, the film began production during September 2016. Janakiraman, an erstwhile assistant of Sudha Kongara during the making of Irudhi Suttru (2016), stated that his film would be on the "romance of three couples, each one coming from a different backdrop". For the lead male roles, Kalaiyarasan, Kaali Venkat and Varma Ramaswamy of Agathinai (2014) fame were selected. Anandhi was signed to portray Kalaiyarasan's pair, Madhu Shalini and Madhumitha were selected play the love interests of Varma and Kaali Venkat, respectively.[1] Nivas K. Prasanna was signed as the composer of the film, while V. S. Tharun Balaji, was selected as the cinematographer. In a turn of events, Ashna Zaveri later replaced Madhu Shalini, while cinematographer Balaji was replaced by Ballu who earlier cranks camera for Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu and Ghajinikanth.[2][3] Meanwhile, debutant Radhakrishnan Dhanapal was introduced as an editor of this film, working alongside with his commitments on upcoming C. V. Kumar directorial, Gangs Of Madras.

The team began the promotional campaign for the film during December 2017, with the title of Titanic being revealed.[4] Kumar revealed the film takes place in Chennai, Kodaikanal, Coimbatore and Bangalore, and that production was completed with only dubbing work remaining by the end of 2017.[5][6] A teaser trailer of the film was revealed on 15 January 2018.[7]
