  • 16,000 years before present: In the 20th century it was generally believed that humans has crossed a land bridge from Eurasia perhaps 12,000 years ago the 'Clovis First / Single origin hypothesis' but modern scientific belief is that settlers arrived by boat at least 14,000-16,000 years before present.
