Tigertail (film)

Tigertail is an upcoming American drama film written and directed by Alan Yang.

Premise

After a hard childhood growing up in Taiwan, Grover takes a risky opportunity to move to America with a woman he doesn't connect with to start a new life, abandoning his love and a home he genuinely loved. He looks back on this decision throughout his life, perhaps stubbornly, especially as he sees his daughter Angela grow up to be a stubborn woman herself. Grover and Angela don't realize how similar they are, but eventually come to understand each other as they experience regret and failure, but enough happiness to keep moving on.

Production

In May 2018, it was revealed that Alan Yang would write and direct Tigertail, for Netflix.^[1] In August 2018, John Cho, Christine Ko, Tzi Ma, Kunjue Li, and Hayden Szeto joined the cast^[2][3][4]. In September 2018, Joan Chen, Lee Hong-chi, Yo-Hsing Fang, Fiona Fu, Margot Bingham, Yang Kuei-mei, and James Saito were announced as the rest of the cast^[5].

Principal photography commenced on August 27, 2018, in New York and Taiwan.^[6]
