Thomas M. Tarpley

Thomas McKee Tarpley (4 July 1922 – 18 December 1986[1] in Muscogee County) was an American soldier in the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1944. He served in the Korean War and Vietnam.[1] From February 1971 to April 1972, during the Vietnam conflict, Tarpley served as commander of 101st Airborne Division.

Honors

During the Vietnam War he was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Medal and twice awarded the Legion of Merit. He retired as Major General.[2] and was buried at Fort Benning Post Cemetery.[1]
