Thomas Flohr (born 1969/1970) is a Swiss billionaire businessman, and the founder and chairman of VistaJet, the leading global private jet charter company.[2]

As of March 2018, Forbes estimated his net worth at US$2.3 billion.[3]

Early life

Flohr was born in Switzerland, the son of a teacher.[4] After school he applied unsuccessfully for flight training at Lufthansa's offices in Hamburg.[5] He studied business and political science at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.[6]

Career

In the 1990s and early 2000s, Flohr started his career in finance working for the Chicago-based leading technology firm Comdisco.[5][7] In 1995 he became President of their European division. In 1999, he has been appointed by Comdisco as president of the worldwide asset finance division. He would later buy out most of Comdisco's European operations through his Swiss-based group Comprendium Investment, which he still controls.[8]

In 2003 he bought his first Bombardier Learjet 60.[9]

In 2016 Flohr, who spends over 800 hours in the air each year, was named Entrepreneur of the Year by The Living Legends of Aviation awards.[10]

Personal life

He lives in St. Moritz, Switzerland.[11] As a hobby he competes in motorsport, including the East African Safari Rally, Le Mans 24 Hour and the FIA World Endurance Championship.[12] He collects art, including Jeff Koons, Keith Haring and Sterling Ruby.[4]

Flohr was married to Katharina Flohr (née Konecny), formerly creative director of Fabergé and editor of Russian Vogue.[13][14] They have one daughter, Nina, who is a former brand director of VistaJet.[15][13]

His daughter is the fiancée of Prince Philippos of Greece, youngest son of King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece.
