The Village at Riverwatch is a planned Mixed-use development located in Augusta, Georgia (United States) along the banks of the Augusta Canal. The property will include an upscale lifestyle center, a dine-in 14-screen IMAX movie theater, Costco, Cabelas, and 25 acres of restaurants and retail. In addition, 7 acres of retail and entertainment and a hotel are planned. The center is currently owned by Dallas-based MGHerring Group. Also known as the Brandenburg Parcel, the village would also have one of the largest supermarket chains in the area.

History

In July 2005, the MGHerringGroup — the developer of the center — announced that it would be built in the upcoming months and would have a grand opening of 2007. Construction initially started in October 2005. During mid-2006, however, construction came to a halt. Due to a lack of a blueprint for the center, the opening was postponed. In October 2010, it was announced that Costco would be opening a store on the site. On July 25, 2013, Cabelas announced that it would join Costco and open its first Georgia location on the site. On the same day, it was announced that the Georgia Theatre Company would open a 14-screen IMAX movie theater.

Format

The Village at Riverwatch will have both an upscale lifestyle center and a power center theme.
