Development

After noticing the fans of the franchise gave the young Stooges in the 2012 film great response, the filmmakers of the first film figured, "Hey, we gotta make a whole new movie out of the three little Stooges."

The film will be directed by Sean McNamara, known for Soul Surfer and Spare Parts. The film was written by Harris Goldberg and executive produced by Earl Benjamin.

Casting

Earl Benjamin, executive producer and CEO of C3 Entertainment, says:[2]

We scoured the countryside to find the right Boys to play little Larry, Moe and Curly. It just wasn’t anybody. Trust me. We auditioned over 2,000 kids to play little Larry, Moe and Curly. And our search was not in vain because of all the work we did and all the Boys we auditioned and the lovely people we met along the way in all these auditions for little Larry, Moe, and Curly, we were so pleased to find just the right boys.

Gordy De St Jeor was cast as Moe,[1] Liam Dow as Larry[1] and Luke Clark as Curly.[1] The principal casting was completed with production starting in the Fall of 2017.[1]

Budget

  • The story development, rights, and screenplay cost over $300,000, the expenses associated with the producers, directors, the cast, travel, and the lodging cost over $2,000,000, the expenses for production, the crew, filming cameras, the set design and construction, as well as lighting, sound, electrical, costumes, make-up, location, and the travel expense cost over $3,000,000, and the post production assembly and editing, music, effects, insurance, legal, accounting, finance costs, and the contingency cost over $500,000.[1] $111,257 were funded.[3]

The additional funding that is required to meet the film's budget will come from loans on MicroVentures.[1]

Filming

Pre-production commenced in October, followed by filming in the following month. Possible filming locations include Louisiana, Georgia, British Columbia, and Toronto.[1]
