The Thompson Sisters are a duo American act made up of sisters Tori Dawn Thompson (born October 25, 1993) and Taylor Marie Thompson (born February 1992) both from Santa Maria, California.[1] They are best known for their appearance on reality talent show American Juniors in 2003 and subsequently being part of the group of the same name spawned from the show. They participated for the first season in the American version of The Voice in 2011.

Career

American Juniors

Taylor's first performance was at the Strawberry Festival in Santa Maria, in which she sang "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat". Tori's first performance was in her church pageant in Santa Maria, in which she sang "Happy Birthday Jesus". Following their debuts, the pair performed at events such as festivals, pageants and parties. In May 2003, Taylor and Tori auditioned for American Juniors, landing a spot in the show. Taylor was chosen first by viewers, with Tori being selected the following week. Chauncey Matthews, Lucy Hale and Danielle White then followed, completing the group. When the group broke up in the summer of 2005, Taylor and Tori started focusing on their own careers.

Their careers

In December 2004, Tori and Taylor helped tsunami victims by raising money for UNICEF by auctioning off their homemade scarves. They later held another auction to help Hurricane Katrina victims by auctioning off autographed American Juniors memorabilia.

In 2006, Tori Thompson successfully auditioned for a part in a segment for Comedy Central's Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy and auditioned for the film remake of When a Stranger Calls, alongside American Idol season 3 runner-up, Diana DeGarmo, who was auditioning for a different part.[2]

In 2011, they took part in The Voice after qualifying in the Blind Auditions. They advanced to The Battle Round where they beat Kelsey Rey to move on to the Live Shows. They were coached in the series by Cee Lo Green. On the results episode on June 21, 2011, they were eliminated from the competition after Vicci Martinez received the most votes from viewers and coach Cee Lo Green selected Nakia as the other semi-finalist.
