The School of Life is an educational company that offers advice on life issues. It was co-founded in 2008 by Alain de Botton. It has branches in London (headquarters),[3] Antwerp, Amsterdam, Berlin, Istanbul, Melbourne, México City,[4] Paris, São Paulo, Sydney,[5][6] Seoul, Taipei, and Tel Aviv.[7] The School offers a variety of programmes and services covering finding fulfilling work, mastering relationships, achieving calm, and understanding and changing the world.[8] The School also offers psychotherapy and bibliotherapy services and runs online and physical shops[9] which have been described as "apothecaries for the mind".[10]

In 2008, "The School of Life" was founded by Alain de Botton, along with a number of writers, artists, and educators.[11] The faculty includes philosophers Mark Vernon, Robert Rowland Smith, and writer John Armstrong.[12]

Activities

The School of Life offers a curriculum of classes claiming to teach emotional intelligence. The School of Life alleges that its classes help to explore ways to make various parts of one's lifestyle more fulfilling.[13]

The School of Life posts films twice a week on its YouTube channel, which has approximately 3.5 million subscribers. The films cover a variety of topics related to emotional intelligence and philosophy.[14]

Shop

The London branch of The School of Life has a small shop on Marchmont Street in Central London.[9]
