Synopsis

Due to the changes in the heavenly realm, Monkey emerges from a magic stone 300 years earlier than planned. His life is put in peril, and on his way to seek immortal assistance, he meets the Golden Sparrow, who sacrificed her life to save him. Touched by her selflessness, Sun Wukong therefore vows to revive her. To keep his promise, Monkey sets out on a journey to learn and cultivate his skills. He meets and gets into romantic entanglements with the aloof and cold Yang Chan, as well as innocent and high-spirited Feng Ling. Monkey also gets into an unexpected battle between the gods and demons, leading to a bloodbath in the heavenly court. After defeating the best warriors of Heaven, Monkey finally gets recognized as the invincible Sun Wukong. However, right before his eyes, he sees Feng Ling (who was revealed to be the reincarnation of Golden Sparrow) die for the second time right before his eyes. Unwilling to accept his fate, he fights the shackles that tie him down to this new forced fate, embarking on an epic adventure against gods and demons.
