Production

On August 4, 2016, it was announced that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was developing a remake of 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, with female centered about two con women, and Rebel Wilson attached to star.[3] Roger Birnbaum and Wilson would produce the film through Birnbaum's Pin High Productions and Wilson's Camp Sugar Productions from a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer.[3][1]

In January 2017, the working title of the film was revealed to be Nasty Women and it was announced that Anne Hathaway would also star in the lead. The title is a reference to the "nasty woman" comment which Donald Trump directed to Hillary Clinton.[1]

In March 2017, Chris Addison was hired to make his directorial debut with the film.[4]

On August 24, 2017, Alex Sharp was cast to play the male lead in the film, a tech billionaire who in his early 20s becomes the wager center between two experienced con women.[2]

Principal photography on the film began in mid-September 2017 in the UK.[5][6] Filming was also done at the Farnborough Airport.[7]

Release

The film was scheduled to be released on August 10, 2018 by Annapurna Pictures[8] however it was pulled forward to June 29, 2018[9] but later pushed back to May 10, 2019.[10]
