The House of Magic. The Xevi Collection

The House of Magic, located in a Catalan farmhouse dated from 1850 in the municipality of Santa Cristina d'Aro (Baix Empordà region), is a cultural facility inaugurated in 2002 and managed by Xavier Sala i Costa, internationally known in the world of ilusionism by Xevi.[1]

This important magical collection, compiled throughout the artistic career of Xevi, sets out a whole journey through the history of illusionism. There are a large sample of automata, posters, magic devices from different eras, paintings, card decks and tarot books, curious objects and photographs, inter alia.[2][3] In spite of this important sample of objects exhibited, there is the intention to expand the museum collection.[4]

In 2014, the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM) awarded the illusionist for his 55 years of career, recognizing the collection and exhibition work that he has done with the creation of the museum , as well as the originality of the equipment, being one of the few centers of the world dedicated to this activity and recognized as the largest and most original in the world. In addition, the museum is the only one of this specialty in all of Spain.[5]
