The Gaa Gaas are a British Rock band from Jersey in the Channel Islands, now based in London, United Kingdom, and Grenoble, France. They formed in 2003 after meeting at a garage punk night called 'Bomp', a weekly event held in their hometown of St. Helier. The idea for the direction of the group came after attending a tour that consisted of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Parkinsons (band), and Ikara Colt. The band have gone through numerous line ups since their original three-piece formation. Their name came about due to them being off the rails in their younger days.

History

Since the group originally relocated to Brighton, they have toured throughout the UK and Europe. They contributed a cover of 'Ca Plane Pour Moi' originally by Plastic Bertrand on the compilation 'Nineteen78' by Filthy Little Angels Records (2008), and then signed to Global Net Records in association with The Playground releasing their debut single 'V.O.L.T.A.I.R.E.' in 2010 later to be re-released on their own label Movement-2 Records. They have received broadcast from BBC Radio 1 and MTV 2, featured in the new blood section of Artrocker magazine, and performed the launch event of Brighton's popular club night 'Stay Sick!'. They were headliners on the second stage of the last ever Jersey Live Festival in 2016 performing after Richard Ashcroft the former frontman of Wigan rock pioneers The Verve had just finished his performance on the main stage. They also appeared at Drop Dead Festival in Lithuania, an event that originally started up at the legendary New York club CBGB.

The band has shared festival/venue bills with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream, The Stranglers, Richard Ashcroft, Madness, Happy Mondays, The Fall, John Cooper Clarke, A Flock of Seagulls, Specimen, Sex Gang Children, Zounds, Charles De Goal, The English Beat, The Skints, Public Service Broadcasting (band), Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Neils Children, Vile Imbeciles, The Rippers, Gaggle, Uffie, O Children, Screaming Tea Party, Screaming Banshee Aircrew, Mirrors, Howler, The Wytches, Demob Happy, to name a few.
