The Firepit is a creative content division, innovation centre and recording studio owned by Warner Music Group located at their United Kingdom headquarters in London, set up in May 2016 to support their artists, labels and partners.[1]

Creative Content

The Firepit’s production company and creative content agency is currently headed up by Stefan Demetriou, who has worked with a range of artists including Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran and Muse.[2] They are responsible for developing content in a range of formats across online and broadcast formats, live and campaign content, feature-length projects, digital creative and artist specials.[1]

On 11th May Warner Music UK announced a new leadership team for The Firepit [3]

From late summer 2017 Chris Bovill and John Allison will be responsible for developing visual formats and programming around Warner Music’s roster of artists, catalogue of music and its unique insight into popular culture. The duo previously led Channel 4’s award-winning 4Creative.

Brian Murnin is now SVP, Business Development. Murnin, previously VP, Business Development, VICE Media, is responsible for the creation and implementation and the commercial and distribution strategy around The Firepit's content output.

Innovation Incubator

The Firepit’s innovation incubator works with tech firms, start-ups and developers to create pilot projects that will be up streamed to Warner Music’s family of labels.[1]

Recording Studio

The Firepit’s recording facility features two studios, viewing and writing space with a host of brand new and vintage equipment. Use of the studio is non-recoupable for Warner Music’s artists and prospective new signings.[1]

The Firepit recording studio is overseen by Conor O’Mahony, VP A&R Co-ordination WMUK, who will work with in-house engineer Richard Woodcraft, previously Senior Engineer/Producer at RAK Studios. Richard won a Grammy award for his work on In Rainbows by Radiohead[4] and engineered and recorded 2015's Mercury Prize-winning album from Benjamin Clementine.[5] He has also recorded and mixed with the Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets, as well as working with Neil Young, Savages and Michael Kiwanuka.[1][5]
