The Essential Dragon is a compilation album by New Zealand band Dragon. The album was released by Sony BMG in April 2007. The songs on this collection were recorded between 1976 and 1978 and include the complete albums Sunshine (Disc One, tracks 2–11) and Running Free (Disc Two, tracks 1–10) , as well as selected tracks from O Zambezi, Dragon's Greatest Hits Vol. 1 and other non-album tracks.
